Step into the immersive world of Thedas once again with “Dragon Age Absolution,” a visually stunning animation series brought to life by Netflix. Set in the Tevinter Imperium (which if you played the DLC of Inquisition then you will know this area is going to be very important potentially for the next game) you start off by following Miriam, an elven mercenary and a slave escaped from Tevinter and Roland of the “warrior” class, Imma not dive into every episode, but you get a merry crew together who want to pull off a heist: You have Fairbanks (who was in Inquisition), Hira – Miriam’s ex, Qwydion a Qunari healer mage (and the BEST character) and Lacklon a Dwarf, we all here? Cool. Got all the classes here: mages, warriors, and rogues.
Honestly, I think they are hoping for more series to come out, as the main character feels like she needs a bit more time to develop – I mean don’t get me wrong, her story is dark AF. Slaves in Tevinter man, it dark and really sad.
I liked Hira, I think she was a complex character, and it is tough to peg her as the “bad guy” cause honestly, she makes a fair point in her “bad guy dialogue” but still.
Qwydion is the best, she is voiced by the incredibly talented Ashly Burch (you know, Chloe Price from Life is Strange, Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn, Mel in The Last of Us two, Parvati in the Outer Worlds and Cricket from Fallout 4 haha okay I will stop now), but her character is all over the place and I love that, very different from other Qunari, she just reminds me of the Iron Bull – who I also loved, voiced by Freddie Prince Jr! Loves.
Roland and Lacklon have a very cute will they/won’t they kinda thing, again really want that season 2. They definitely gave a vibe about it towards the end, but want to see how they progress.
The bad fella (he is a magister – if you know Dragon Age then this might tell you something) again, not badly fleshed out, but could be better. Like you kinda get his point, but then he does things that you are like… oooooooo no no. Even his lover is like “Peace I am out.”
The positive and the negative for me about this was the run time, it was really easy to binge, with each episode being around about 30 minutes, but also meant as soon as you were getting into an episode it stopped. SHOW US MORE!
