The T20 Cricket World Cup 2024
15 May 2024All I want is to be back in Mexico, so it helps to talk about it haha.
Arriving at Secrets Moxché
I will tell you that the flight and stuff out to Mexico was super easy, Heathrow to Cancun, 11 hours (which sure, a lot of people struggle with but we fly that to Cape Town to see my parents, so honestly not that hard) we decided to stay awake for the flight as it was a day flight, we knew it would be tough when we landed, but we didn’t want to be messed around too much with jetlag.
So we arrived, not going to go into too much detail, but all the cases on the flight took a bit of time then everyone had to stop to have their bags checked, which you know is fine, we are on holiday.
We get to the hotel and suddenly Kate and I are very tired humans, we have been up for quite some time now, but we are pushing through, it is around about 19:00 when we arrive and it is possibly one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever seen. The tiredness does vanish when we check in and we are offered champagne, yes please, but then the usual stuff with things like forms etc, I could have signed my life away with that one, I was not reading. We then got to the room, and BLOWN away again, we then got into our dresses and went to one of the hotel events “A Road through Mexico”. This was insanely cool for our first night, every area was a different region of Mexico showing off their food, drink, music and dress. It was an incredible start to the holiday, by 22:00 we were exhausted.
03:00… we both woke up wide awake, so I decided why not unpack at this point, Kate goes to the 24-hour cafe… yes… 24-hour… and gets us some strong coffees. Then we decided to call my parents who were a little shook, to say the least. We spent that day just getting used to the hotel where everything was and having a great start. As the jetlag lessened we were able to sleep in slightly more and enjoy later nights being hot and sticky.
We did a tour to Chichen Itza and that was magnificent, everything I had ever pictured and more. If you ever end up going, take a hat, seriously, it was baking. On the way back we went to a cenote, at the time we were um-ing and ah-ing about whether we should do it, we decided to and it was INCREDIBLE. The water was so refreshing and we got to jump in from about 3 meters up, it was so cool, honestly I would do the entire experience again for that, and it was great.
I think it was possibly one of the best holidays I have ever experienced, all-inclusive glory, I cannot Thank Secrets Moxché enough, the staff was friendly and the location was immaculate.
Also, there was a cat that we named Hector and he was adorable!
